Television commercial acting:
Television acting is significantly different than film acting. Most of the characters you see in television commercials have some unique facial expressions they are sometimes more exaggerated. You need to become more animated. The market for children and product endorsement is bigger than ever. Kids are full of vibrant energy and it is relatively easy for them to have fun with cameras and stage settings. However this is a business and that is where direction solidifies a vital element. The ability to be able to take direction is the most single important aspect.

Most every kid and young adult has unique skills and their own charming personality. But it needs to be controlled, coached, directed and brought to surface only under the right circumstances. When the directors are filming these commercials they are a bit more lenient because a director has to be patient and willing to spend the time to get the great takes and different angles. What we do in this class is prepare you for these type of auditions and also produce a demo reel that are samples of your work that you can now submit to a casting director or agent.

Our television commercial acting class offers two situations.
Humor is what we see the most when we see kids acting on television commercials.
Our studio has a "kitchen set" where we film with lights, props and cameras.
We have our young actors endorse products such as cereal boxes, bowls of soup, crackers, or soft drinks. Just about any product you have seen on television.
Our television acting class puts your child in front of the cameras and lights and prepares them for what they will be experiencing filming television commercials. Our kitchen set is the most popular. Our film sets are designed just like a real kitchen with stove refrigerator tables chairs just like at home.

Here we have all of the basic products just like you see on television commercials.
We have cereal products, lolipops, cold drinks. We can film your child by themselves or with other children actors. It is best to have other actors. Your child's scenes will be edited onto a demo reel. You can now submit that reel to any agency or when you go on a casting or audition you will now look like a professional. You will notice how many others do not have a reel and now you will see how this will help you and give you an advantage.

These reels have your child's picture on the cover of the box and include music and credits and a short introduction.
At our studio we also study national television commercials that use professional's actors so that our actors can see for themselves why these particular "talents" were chosen from hundreds of auditions. We practice these scenes and film our actors on the set with our cameras. Then we watch the scenes on our monitoring screen. By incorporating the "Watch and learn" method, the actors can see for themselves what they are doing on camera and what improvement's are needed. Perhaps the actor needs to project more personality or maybe they need to bring it down a level or two.

Our "living room set" is a room similar to a typical living room in your house.
This set is for the dramatic or serious acting. You've probably seen these types of commercials on television. For example the " Just say "No to drugs" and those educational commercial advertisements. Many schools advertise on television for special learning. Our mission at "The reel film acting studio" is to be able to show a director you have the professionalism and diversity to be funny and serious..
Both of these classes offer the opportunity to have your best scenes edited onto a DVD with your introduction, titles and credits. You can have your picture printed right on the front of the DVD box. You can also add as many scenes as you wish to your "Reel". You can now show the casting directors that you are a professional. You have trained and prepared and you have something to show for yourself.

All of our classes utilize the method of "watch and learn". These classes are designed so that you have experience working on a film set with cameras, lights, film crew and a director. Many children have been casted for a television commercial but have been fired by the director because they weren't prepared to work in a serious and professional environment. One bad experience can ruin a child's hope and future.

They will be counting on you so we ask that you show up to all of your classes on time. If you are late you will not be accepted into class. If you miss more than 2 classes you will be terminated and forfeit your payment for classes.
There are other schools that let you come and go as you wish. But once again we are serious about what we do.
Attitudes and egos must be left at the door .
Proper attire is required.
We operate no different than any gym, spa or palates studio that require proper attire.
An acting school that lets its students wear anything they want has no values or organization. The actor is a sponge. He or she is there to take on a character role, and become that person. This is about separating your self from your self. When it comes time to make your demo reel then you will have the opportunity to choose wardrobe and makeup.
Attire for all students. Sweat pants or kaki pants for both men and women. Women must be covered with a full T-shirt. No belly buttons showing or piercing. No tank tops for men. You must wear tennis shoes or walking sneakers no high heels are allowed.
If you are dressed any other way than prescribed above you will not be allowed into class.
Children must be dressed like children. We don't want children looking like young adults.
It is not proper for young children to wear makeup and to be over concerned about their looks. Our society has placed too much value on young adults about their looks. Looks will only get you so far in life, we want you to learn other values. We appreciate all kinds of actors, but in this business humility will get you into many doors before arrogance will.
Make sure your child is well behaved and instructed. You are working with directors. Interruption's are not tolerated and may cause us to suspend your child from all classes.
We are not a day care center. We are not a playground. When you watch a film with child actors or see them on Jay Leno or David Letterman being interviewed you are usually witnessing a very secure well-balanced and properly raised child.
You can see they have a sense of self-value and you can easily predict their success by watching how they conduct themselves. We are not here to waste your time we want you to take this serious this is a way to have your child working professionally in the commercial industry and it is providing a way for funds for college.
When you or your child looks back on this experience we want you to know that it was a wise decision and not a waste of your time and money. You could find much cheaper entertainment for your child if it is entertainment that you are looking for.
